This motivates us

Work environments must adapt to us, not the other way around. At MAJI, we believe that health and comfort in everyday work life don't require compromise.

MAJI's Timeline

A look behind the scenes? We can't share all the impressions and milestones... There would be too many. But we've selected a few and will update them continuously. Have fun discovering MAJI's story.

Brainstorming

Summer 2021

MAJI is born

We set out to reimagine furniture and further develop the design and functionality of desks. The entire project is being done on the side, not as a full-time job.

Pivot

February 2022

The ancient paddo

Is that really it? If you spend more time at your desk than in bed, why not have the same comfort? It bothers us that we can't take our desks with us. Back pain is increasing, even though furniture is becoming more "ergonomic." This thought won't leave us alone.

Iteration No. 100 (guess)

April 2022

Design approaches

One version was clip-on, while the other had to be actively held by the core muscles. The active paddo prevailed because it offered many more applications.

First steps

July 2022

NRW start-up scholarship

We received the NRW start-up grant for our idea of using a flexible positioning cushion to ergonomically enhance desk spaces.

Iteration No. 1000 (guess)

October 2022

2-piece design

We are looking for a way to incorporate the paddo into a design where the zipper is not noticeable.

Concept Table

February 2023

Delivery Adjustable

We started a customer project in 2022 in which we developed a new table concept for a customer. Despite the pivot, we successfully completed the project and delivered the table, including the room concept.

E-commerce

May 2023

First steps online

We realized that no one understood what we were trying to do or what the paddo actually was. Product development was put on hold and testing began.

Colorful

August 2023

Your paddo Your Style

We added many bright colors to our range and found vegan leather, which is incredibly high quality. We still use it today.

Pilot series

September 2023

Handmade

We assembled the first 60 paddo cores by hand and are having the pilot series produced in North Rhine-Westphalia. We believe we have sufficient synergies in Europe.

Pop-up store

November 2023

Valuable feedback

A hugely successful pop-up store event in Salzkotten allowed us to gather valuable feedback, and we discovered that there are countless possible uses for paddo. A 30% conversion rate speaks for itself.

Relocation

December 2023

It's time to pack.

We are moving into the new Garage33 building together with other startups.

Research

January 2024

Efficient ergonomics

We're exploring the profitability and benefits of ergonomic furniture and have the chance to contribute to a book chapter. No spoilers here.

Practical Test Use Case No. 42

February 2024

Flight attendant

The paddo also works great on airplanes. Whether as a neck pillow, forehead cushion, or cup holder

Trade fair debut

April 2024

Experiences

We have an incredibly successful trade fair booth and are sometimes overcrowded. Finally, in the digital world, there's something tangible and analog. But we fail to convert the numerous interested parties afterward because we have no sales experience and no functioning CRM tool. We'll take a closer look at the topic afterward.

Design study

July 2024

Infinite possibilities

We're testing different ways of sewing the paddo cover, as we want to offer completely customized covers in the future. Essentially, your very own paddo. There's no further information available at this point.

Fair No. 2

September 2024

Learning curve? Yes!

We're going into the new trade fair better prepared. Although the startups were placed in the back corner at this one, we've had many incredibly great conversations and even orders from open-minded companies looking to break new ground. β™₯️ Team MAJI

October 2025

Learnings

We've had countless conversations and identified many problems in companies. Often, occupational health and safety is something that's done casually, and occupational safety is something annoying, where you're just being told what to do. But with paddo, occupational safety can also feel good. You can also read about it (but feeling it is better).

Sold out

December 2024

Thank you for your trust

We're sold out and would like to thank all of our brave and new friends for your trust. We're preparing for the next production run and aim to roll out series production next year. We're still bootstrapping and curious to see what happens next year.

Our Mission

This is MAJI

We're committed to designing mobile work environments that truly enhance the way we all live and work together. MAJI gives you the flexibility and freedom to work at your own pace and feel comfortable in any (work) environment.

How are you? Let's talk.
